New Vocaloids: Mee and Uu

Two new Vocaloids, both female, Mee and Uu.

The two of them will have two CD's released on November 26th, 2010, this Friday.

Here is a video featuring them:

サマーオブラブ
(Summer of Love) by Saihate producer Kobayashi Onyx, PV by Tripshots

Mee is the one with the pink hair and blue outfit, and Uu is the one with blue hair and pink outfit.

---

So far, there have been mixed reactions about the new Vocaloids. There are complaints about them sounding too much alike to a previous newcomer, Gachapoid. Many would like for there to be a slower rate of new Vocaloids being produced.

How To Make a Vocaloid Breathe Using VOCALOID

Someone on YouTube (they will remain anonymous here) wanted to know how to make a Vocaloid breathe using the program, so I wanted to be helpful.

It's actually really easy, once you know how to do it.

When you draw a note, right-click on it and select "note property". Under where it says "phonetic", write br1, br2, etc. (goes from br1-br5 for different types of breaths). You do not have to change the lyric, and it can just be left as "a".

For some Vocaloids, you have to put all the breaths in a separate track.

If you can't hear the breath no matter how much you turn up your volume, you probably need to make the note for the breath longer or shorter, depending on which type of breath it is (br1-br5). You can adjust how loud the breath is with dynamics.

I only own VOCALOID2. I had to uninstall VOCALOID1, because it created problems for me.

Different types of breaths for Miku:

br1 = High-pitched breath.
br2 = High-pitched exhale.
br3 = Same as br1, only more hollow sounding.
br4 = Exaggerated, hollow sounding breath.
br5 = Extremely exaggerated, low-pitched breath.

Different types of breaths for Len:

br1 = Subtle, quiet breath.
br2 = Uneasy breath.
br3 = Extremely exaggerated breath.
br4 = Breath through the nose.
br5 = Hollow breath.

Different types of breaths for Rin:

Same as Miku:

br1 = High-pitched breath.
br2 = High-pitched exhale.
br3 = Same as br1, only more hollow sounding.
br4 = Exaggerated, hollow sounding breath.
br5 = Extremely exaggerated, low-pitched breath.

Different types of breaths for Luka (EDIT: Luka is much quieter in this program than the others, so you probably need to adjust the dynamics or volume on her breaths in order to hear them):

Same as Miku and Rin:

br1 = High-pitched breath.
br2 = High-pitched exhale.
br3 = Same as br1, only more hollow sounding.
br4 = Exaggerated, hollow sounding breath.
br5 = Extremely exaggerated, low-pitched breath.

Different types of breaths for Gakupo ( excuse me if I wrote unnecessary things about these, I just really love Gakupo XD )

br1 = Relaxed breath.
br2 = Slightly strained breath.
br3 = Very uneasy, uncomfortable sounding breath.
br4 = Slightly uneasy breath.
br5 = Very sudden, sexy-sounding breath. (haha sorry)

Different types of breaths for Gumi:

Same as Miku, Rin, and Luka:

br1 = High-pitched breath.
br2 = High-pitched exhale.
br3 = Same as br1, only more hollow sounding.
br4 = Exaggerated, hollow sounding breath.
br5 = Extremely exaggerated, low-pitched breath.

Different types of breaths for Yuki:

Same as Len:

br1 = Subtle, quiet breath.
br2 = Uneasy breath.
br3 = Extremely exaggerated breath.
br4 = Breath through the nose.
br5 = Hollow breath.

Different types of breaths for Hiyama:

br1 = Subtle, quiet breath.
br2 = Uneasy breath.
br3 = Extremely exaggerated breath.
br4 = Sounds as if his mouth is almost completely closed.
br5 = Slightly more hollow than br4.

Kamui Gakupo - Aimo ~Wind~

Watch on YouTube.

Happy 4th of July, everyone.

I had this sitting in my computer for months, and I finally decided to upload it today. This is, what I would like to call, the "wind mix" of Aimo ~Tori No Hito~, originally sung by Megumi Nakajima as Ranka Lee, from Macross Frontier.

Gakupo is singing the main part with the lyrics, and everyone else is in the background as a chorus, simply singing "ah".

I know, I know. There are some ridiculously high notes in here... for some, that is. I am just used to higher notes, I guess.

Song: Aimo ~Wind~
Voice Used: Kamui Gakupo
Other Voices Used:
Hiyama Kiyoteru (Taking place of Shion Kaito)
Kaai Yuki (Taking place of Sakine Meiko)
Hatsune Miku
Kagamine Rin
Kagamine Len
Megurine Luka
Megpoid Gumi

Kamui Gakupo - chaosmaid

Watch on YouTube

I might be making a Len version of this, too... and he'll probably have a much better... um... "sex noise" than Gakupo here. It will also be slightly easier to imagine Len in a situation like this.

This was originally done with the vocals of Acme Iku.

Programs Used:

VOCALOID2 - Vocals

Audacity - Adding of echo, volume control, sync with off-vocal/karaoke track.

Adobe Photoshop CS4 - Picture editing. (Picture originally in color, without blood from zerochan.net)

Windows Movie Maker - For adding subtitles and putting together.

I found a vsq for this, but I changed it a little so it wasn't too high for Gakupo, but unfortunately, it came it sounding flat in some places because I didn't transpose it very well.

English Lyrics:

Lies lock themselves in front of me
Again keeping a tormenting secret in quiet
With the key to taboo, I'll make the answer
By tearing up Master's silence with a scream

An avid partier opening the curtains
To the utmost shame and insult

I'm thinking hard, unable to move my arms and legs
Trying to escape, and soon giving up

I know that slavery is a virtue
Everything would break if it weren't
You can boast of obedience
When you try to crawl away
I know that love is painful
Tied with a logic synapse
Dancing to an impure melody
For whom will you be so unsightly?

Spraying in a vivid arc
Shouting like a wild animal
I've been broken (censored) (censored) (censored)
I've been distorted (censored) (censored) (censored)

My Personal Cover of Love Is War

AAGHGHGIUGIHLiBNUYOKSAULABH I FAIL!!!!!! D: D: D:

See, I auditioned for my school's variety show with this song, and I tried very hard. 32 people auditioned, and only 15 could make the list. I was not of those 15, and I cried a little when I found out... but... whatever. There's always next year.

I'm not a very good singer, so this is just for fun, I guess. I ran out of breath a couple times, because I forgot about the breathing-from-the-abs technique and breathed from my chest instead. Sorry about that.

I didn't write the song or draw the picture (I just recolored a Love is War picture of Miku... cause she looks kinda like me, with the long hair and the average body type.) And yes, I am a natural brown-eyed-blonde, if you're wondering.

One more thing: It's EXTREMELY difficult to match up a separate vocal track to a karaoke track, because they don't start at the same time. I apologize that it's a little off-sync.

Thanks for listening to my crappy singing. :)

I have already laid out a design for my own UTAU, Yuzaki Akane, so you could call this an un-synthesized Yuzaki Akane version of Love is War... maybe. Um... yeah. I haven't gotten around to actually making this UTAU's voicebank...

(By the way, this is from my YouTube account. You can link to it here. I have some Vocaloid songs on there I made myself as well, if you're interested.)

Meltdown: Impossible To Sing?

I beg to differ!

I've heard many Vocaloid fans talking about how Kagamine Rin's "Meltdown" is "impossible for any normal human to sing" because of its high pitches, odd rhythm, and rare way of skipping from one note to another. However, if you've ever taken voice lessons from a skilled, experienced music teacher like I have, you would know that, with certain training, no song with vocals is impossible to sing.

In fact, not even Hatsune Miku's "The Disappearance of Hatsune Miku" is impossible to sing. There is voice training that gives you the ability to sing songs that fast. You can even learn how to do that without voice training by starting to sing the song at a tempo that isn't alien to you, and gradually increasing speed each time you practice singing the song. With this method, you could even learn to sing Megurine Luka and Kagamine Rin's "Anti the Infinite Holic", which I have used just that method for learning to sing that particular song, and if I can do that, anyone can. Believe me.

As an intermediate-going-on-advanced singer who takes voice lessons, I have made several attempts on my own time singing "Meltdown", and I have found from that that it is NOT an impossible song to learn to sing accurately, and neither are any other songs I've heard.

This has been a piece of Vocaloid Nonsense. Thanks for reading!
